A few notes from our history: The Phoenix Group becomes AFIX Technologies.
The Phoenix Group was a privately held Kansas Corporation founded in 1989. The primary mission was to produce an automated fingerprint identification system which local law enforcement agencies could afford. The original product concept and business objective emanated from a need expressed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a fingerprint I.D. system for use in a national point-of-sale firearm control and law enforcement system. That particular application did not come to fruition, however it led to the development of AFIX Tracker.
Initial research and development was funded by the sale of company stock to individual investors. In 1992 The Phoenix Group received applied technology matching funds from the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation to aid in product development. Additional matching funds were awarded in 1993 and by 1997 the company was totally supported by software sales.
AFIX Tracker was launched in 1998 with the first install at the US Army Crime Lab. By the end of the first year AFIX Tracker was being used at five sites. Now, AFIX Technologies has grown to well over 200 installed sites across the U.S. and more than 20 other countries.
The Phoenix Group was aquired by L-1 Investment Partners July 26, 2005. With additional guidance and resources we have engaged in an aggressive plan to ramp up sales, marketing, advertising, as well as engineering and software development.
